Hi, I wanted to see if you could help me with a knife ID. It is a 74mm and appears to be an ambassador without the nail file. Here is the description: Celidor with exposed rivets, nickel tipped tweezers, with toothpick, knife with Victoria tang stamp, scissors with single leaf.
Thanks for any help. I can send you a picture if it would help.
sincerely,
Glenn
Hello, Glenn.
Please post the photo of your knife.
Looks, it's unusual model (from 40x).
Are you sure, that knife doesn't contains anything except blade and scissors?
Maybe small blade is present?
Otherwise I don't have any ideas..
Escort 74 contains only 2 tools, but nailfile instead of scissors.
Anyway will wait for photos.
Alex
Hi Alex,
I have a knife that I think is from the late 70s or early 80s (from when I was a kid, I’m in my 40’s now) that I have not been able to identify. On the main side (in order across), it has the longer and short knife blades paired in the same slot, saw blade, fish scale blade, scissors, magnifying glass paired with phillips screwdriver, and canopener w/large flathead screwdriver paired with canopener w/small flathead screwdriver. The back side has a corkscrew, flathead screwdriver, and what looks like an icepick/drawknife. I’ve seen a few similar knives, but none with precisely the same configuration. I’ve been wanting to get another just like it, but have not had any luck. It might help to know what it is called. I can send a photo if that helps.
Thanks!
-Mike
Hi Mike,
In my opinion, knife that you’ve described can be a Outdoorsman model.
Could you please compare it with this one: http://leaf-vics.com/2014/11/301-outdoorsman.html
Anyway, feel free to send me a photo and additional questions (if needed) to leaf.avf(at)gmail(dot)com
Alex.
where did you find the 2017 marketing calendar for Vic, i’ve been to their press release websites and cant seem to find a copy.
My local Victorinox’ dealer shared it with me.
By the way, what do you mean by “press release websites” – victorinox.ch? Or something else?
Hi, Where are you based in the US? Great blog! I too am a huge VSA fan.
I’m far away from US 🙂

I started collection SAKs a little while ago. I especially like grabbing up Classics and Classic SDs with logos. Is there a good way to date them? BTW: LOVE your site!
> Is there a good way to date them?
I don’t think it’s possible for any brand-logos. If you’re talking about Victorinox series (like Classic LE 2017) – it’s very simple to track their dates 🙂
BTW: LOVE your site!
Thanks! You can follow me in FB/Twitter in order to get latest updates immediatelly.
Hi Alex,
I am hoping you can help. For many years I was a member of the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife Collector’s Society (VSAKCS). At the time, the Collector’s Society was run and managed by Dan Jacquart and every year (in conjunction with Victorinox) a new club knife was created and made available to members. Unfortunately Dan decided to retire some years ago and at that time, I assumed that VSAKCS was disbanded. The last VSAKCS club knife I was able to purchase was issued in 2009.
Recently however, through your blog (and through VSAKCS club knives for sale on Ebay) I noticed that VSAKCS knives have also been issued for years 2010-2016.
My question is, does the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife Collector’s Society still exist and if so, do you have a contact name/email/web address? I would love to join up again if possible.
Do you know if the VSAKCS knives produced for years 2010-2016 (2017?) are available for purchase? If so, do you have any contact details?
I would appreciate any help or advice you can offer on VSAKCS.
Thanks and Regards,
Mike
Hi Mike,
I’m glad to answer “yes” to the all your questions. 🙂
VSAKCS still exists, and club knives were produced for the mentioned years. The last model was a Special Pioneer X (I hope, that soon will write a post in my blog about this knife).
The VSAKCS now is managed by another person. Please contact with me via email or FB (see detailed above) and I’ll give you his credentials. I prefer to not publish his email directly here.

I am curious about a Olive Drab Tradesman, just picked one up to go with my original olive drab Outrider.
Actually, I was in error, It isn’t a tradesman because it has Scissors in addition to the File and short square phillips, and I can’t figure out what it is. It is Olive Drab scaled, 111mm slidelock,
Seems, it’s a Workchamp. It was produced with olive scales
Hi Alex,
If this blog is still active, please let me know. I could use your expertise on a Victorinox knife that I can’t identify.
Thx in advance.
Regards Joe
Sure, Joe
You can send me an email message with pictures, I will try to help
Hi Alex,
I recently picked up a Vic Mechanic (with box). It is a pre ’85 Boy Scout edition with vssr tang stamp. I don’t think the box is original to the knife because the item number doesn’t match with the SAKWiki site. Would you have any idea what this box is supposed to contain?
The item number on the red/white box is 1.47 53.73
Hey Paul,
Are you sure that the last symbols are 73, not 72? I’m asking because suffix “.72” means fish-inlaid on some models like Fisherman / Angler / etc.
The ID 1.4753.72 corresponds to Master Fisherman model: https://leaf-vics.com/2018/09/677-master-fisherman.html

Sorry, I cannot recall. Probably it was relatively cheap…

Hello. I am looking up the name of my Victorinox knife for sale on an auction site or somewhere.
Can you help me identify it?
The functions of my knife looks like the same as Champion (a) on your site, but my model has a key ring like Champion (b). However, mine has a corkscrew instead of a screwdriver, so it is different from Champion (b) either. It appears to be somewhere between type (a) and (b). I think I got mine in the 70’s.
Hey,
The difference between (a) and (b) variation of Champion model it’s a back-side tool: corkscrew or Philips screwdriver.
The absence or presence of keyring doesnt affect model’s name in this case.
Thank you very much. So in the 80’s, a key ring was replaced by a hook (I don’t know what it’s called) like the one in the photo.
Nope.
Keyring always was almost the same (Except attachment part of it).
There is no relation between keyring / hook (which was added to the 91mm models with scissors after 1991)
Hi Alex,
I have some unusual knives that you may be interested including the limited edition Karl Elsener knife and coin set, 125 year 1884 soldier knife and the Sammlermesser collectors knives from 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987, the 100 years Swiss Champ with decorative inlay as well as a number of more mainstream models. Hi Mark,
Thanks for your proposal.
Could you please send list of knives, which you are going to sell, their prices to leaf.vics at hotmail dot com. If you have pictures of them – it would be great to get them as well.
