668. Hoffritz LE2 (Troubleshooter)

The Victorinox Troubleshooter is very unusual model.
As far as I know (I’m not sure for 100%) first time Victorinox released this model for the promo-company of Marlboro company (as part of “Marlboro unlimited” series).
The second run was done for US reseller Hoffritz with special naming: Hoffritz LE2 (first edition (LE1) was also quite interesting and I still looking for this model).
The main differences from regular Troubleshooter:
  • no hook;
  • no technician screwdriver
  • old-style Phillips screwdriver (with can-opener)

Besides that, – big inlaid “LIMITED EDITION 2” on the back scale and serial number, stamped on liner (mine has number “1969/2000”)

665. Alox Classic SD LE 2017

Previous post was about some Limited edition from 2017, so let’s continue this endless story..
Three years ago, as you all know (I’m absolutely sure by the way), Victorinox started new (every-year?) limited run of three Alox models –Classic SD, Cadet and Pioneer. In order to make these knives more attractive, every run produced in new color, 2017 bring us an olive-green models.
This time let’s start review all members of this LE from the youngest member, – Alox Classic SD LE 2017!

664. Outrider Damast LE2017

I’ve already mentioned several times, that in 2017 Victorinox discontinued slide-lock series (in 111-mm form-factor). So, it wasn’t a big surprise, when were announced, that as part of Damascus limited run, will be presented a new edition of very popular Outrider model (but with liner-lock for sure).
More interesting detail was the fact, that this version of Outrider will not include wood-saw and corkscrew.
Let’s review some pictures?
P.S. I’m not absolutely sure about materials of scales. On official press-release it was specified like:
…Epicurean scales with sequential numbering. These are manufactured using environmentally-friendly wood fiber material, that accentuate the elegant design.

Few days ago I’ve published article about “unknown” edition of Classic SD. Approximately in 10 minutes after I’ve shared post on Facebook, I got an answer about knife’s model. Maybe this time I’ll be lucky too? (by the way, I have few other Classics, which still not identified…)
Update: It’s an Classic SD Argyle from LE2010. Thanks, Irineo Reyes!

639. Special Pioneer X – VSAKCS 2016

Few years before, in 2016 Victorinox company realized a long-waited desire (I could say – obsession, but I wouldn’t) of hundreds people. They’re realized an Alox model with scissors (first one after vintage Voyager!) − Pioneer X.
Moreover, the same model was released as Damast knife of the Year soon after this. So, we had two new knives for this year. Is it enough? For sure − no, and specially for VSAKC society as model of the year was released ‘light’ version of  the same knife. It was called a Special Pioneer X and was thinner for few millimeters due to removed openers layer.
Stop talking, let’s see the pictures of this beauty..

624. Spartan (Unspunnenfest commemorative)

In the end of summer 2017, specially for Unspunnenfest, Victorinox company released a limited run of Spartan model with unusual ‘3D-textured‘ scales, which are looks closely similar to natural stone (as main symbol of mentioned festival).
It wasn’t a first time when such type of scales were produced, but everything looks like we’ll see this type of scales more often starting from this year (White Christmas Explorer 2017, for instance).

The Victorinox Cadet is a very popular Alox model in 84-mm range. But this one is something relatively rare. Let’s check what SAKWiki knows:
A Copper colored model was available for a short time prior to 2006 and is considered a collector’s item.

589. Huntsman BSA (Fieldmaster in fact)

Current model is an another example of strange logic of Victorinox distributors, that was discussed many times (with no success).
In 1990-x they’re released a series of some Victorinox knives for the “Boy Scouts of America” organization. In this series were included next knives: Adventurer, Classic, Sentry, Tinker, Explorer (was listed by some dealers as Yeoman!), Climber and Pocked Pal (was released with name FeatherWeight).
Today’s hero also was a part of this huge series, but with name of different knife – Huntsman (actually it’s a Fieldmaster, no doubt).
Why, Carl Victorinox, why?
