In 2016 Victorinox company released two new / old models of multi-tools: SwissTool and SwissTool Spirit. Why “new / old”? Because they’re absolutely the same models, as produced before, but with new black-oxide coating (like in previously realized special runs of these multi-tools for Danish / Finnish / etc army forces).
We’ve already reviewed SwissTool Spirit XBS
in the past, now let’s review the older brother – SwissTool BS.

I’ve been looking for this model for… very… very long time.
Looks like today we’ll have an overview only of unusual Victorinox knives.
So, let me introduce another rare model – Master Fisherman
we already had a chance to met with this knife, but this one has some minor differences (which can be recognized only by some crazy.. I meant true collectors).
So, Master Fisherman, – technically it’s the same Fisherman but with pliers.
From other hand – the same Angler Deluxe
but with Phillips screwdriver
instead of corkscrew
The Victorinox Troubleshooter is very unusual model.
The second run was done for US reseller Hoffritz with special naming: Hoffritz LE2 (first edition (LE1) was also quite interesting and I still looking for this model).
The main differences from regular Troubleshooter:
- no hook;
- no chisel
- old-style Phillips screwdriver (with can-opener)
Besides that, – big inlaid “LIMITED EDITION 2” on the back scale and serial number, stamped on liner (mine has number “1969/2000”)
One more knife from “fish” series – as many others, without own name. In collectors’ societies is known as “Fischermesser” (accordingly to naming from old German catalog from Victorinox).
The Victorinox Angler Deluxe is a model which was produced during relatively short period of time. It one layer wider than base Angler, this additional layer includes scissors and multipurpose hook.
Interesting fact: accordingly to SAKWiki, this model had several names through the years: at beginning it was called as Waterman, later on – it was known as Angler with Pliers.
But Angler model already included pliers, isn’t it? Maybe more logical was call this model “Angler with Scissors“?
The answer should be as “yes” either “no”. The reason of this “strange” naming was in fact, that first edition of Angler
in other words) had scissors
instead of pliers
The Victorinox Angler Plus – it’s an one from rare and vintage models, which were produced only during a relatively short period in the past. There are no too much information about this model, I don’t remember any official catalog with information about it. SAKWiki also still doesn’t have information about this knife (I’ve added this model to the full list, but didn’t created a new dedicated page yet).
So, Angler Plus – technically looks like regular Angler model plus additional wood-saw. Current one is a pretty vintage one with old-fashion awl and shackle.
The Victorinox Troubleshooter is a 5-layers 91-mm knife, which is very often associated with Marlboro company (as other model – Trail Guide) due to the fact, that during some period of time it was sold with logo of this company on the scales.
- Hoffritz LE2
- Deluxe Tinker
The Master Fisherman
is a definetely rare model. There are no enough information about this model in the web (except some topics
Even SAKWiki mentioned absolutely nothing about this unique knife (but few weeks ago one good fellow added new page with short description there! ;))
So, Master Fisherman – extended variation of Fisherman by adding pliers.
Well known multi-tool with Black-Oxide coating.
First multi-tool with Black-Oxide in my collection.. and first dissapointing – it looks just ugly 🙁
- SwissTool Spirit
The Victorinox SwissTool was introduced in 1997. Later on several modifications with different set of tools were released (Version X – with scissors and RS – with belt-cutter). Original version (regular SwissTool) also had a lot of small modifications due to the evolution of tools. The last known (for me) modification – is a current one, when serrated blade changed own shape from regular to the wharncliffe blade.
- SwissTool series
- SwissTool Spirit
The Victorinox Mountaineer Lite is a relatively rare 5-layers 91-mm knife, which based on more common Mountaineer model. Addon “Lite” in it’s name means (as you already know! ;)) that this knife has an additional layer with LED light and inline Phillips screwdriver.
Interesting fact: Mountaineer Lite is a unique model, which was produced only in blue transparent scales.
- Huntsman Lite
- Expedition Lite
First of all I have to say, that probably I was wrong and this knife is a another modification of Fischermesser. If you’ll compare images of actual knife with the pictures from Victorinox catalogs (see below), you will find several differences.
- There are no shackle (keyring instead of it). So it cannot be 235 fma
U fo sure (U – means shackle).
- Fish inlay on original scales (knife was repaired, photo of original knife you also can find below) was placed on bottom side (Victorinox shield also was present there, as on today’s models Angler/Fisherman). Original Fischermesser had fish inlay instead of shield on top side of scale.
- This knife has an additional tool (in comparision with 235 fmaU) – on back-side.
I summary – I don’t know what exactly this model is. I never saw it before and I couldn’t find any information about this knife yet.
So any your help (with identifying this knife) will be very appreciated!
P.S. Knife was repaired (replacing of both blades, new scales) by my friend Ivan.
What was before:
There are no too much information about this model in the web, even in SAKWiki, dedicated page was added just few monts before (Dec-2015).
So, this knife is a relatively rare model from 60-70s years of previous century. It has Elinox tang and shield. One of key features of this knife – technician screwdriver, which was present just on couple of models.
Unfortunately, my knife is in bad condition, – it has reshapened blade. If you have the same model in better condition and would like to sell/trade it, – please contact me.

Victorinox CyberTool 34 (now this model also known as CyberTool M) is a 5-layer model, specially designed for computer enthusiasts with optimal (in my opinion) set of tools.
