Few years ago specially for Finland, Victorinox company released a couple of well-known models but with fancy scales and (sometimes) with new names. First model, which will review from this series will be a Sportsman with interesting pattern on scales and marvelous name ‘Pikku-Jussi’.
Extremely unusual model, specialy for such conservative company like Victorinox. In first opinion, it might looks more logical if this knife is belonging exclusively to Wenger, – they very often used to use some non-ordinary tools in their knives… So, that’s also true, – originally this knife was produced by Wenger, but later on, Victorinox released it under own trademark.
So, let me introduce this unique model: FASS 90 (Fusil d’assaut 90/Fucile d’assalto 90) with the sight adjustment tool – created specially for SIG 550 and STG 90 assault rifles.
Highly recomend to review related thread in multitool.org forum (link below).

in this blog, we’ve already reviewed special version of Outrider
, which was produced for Malaysian Armed Forces
(Angkatan Tentera Malaysia – ATM
The current knife is a second variation, it also has a back-side Phillips screwdriver instead of corkscrew and, additionally, – all tools are black-coated.
Comparative pictures see below.
UPDATE: found another small difference: original ATM has small label ‘SATRIA’ on back scale, new one – doesn’t.

4 layered knife in 91-mm form-factor with new type of magnifying glass.
The first knife in this run was a «Kamianets–Podilskyi Castle» (not to easy to pronounce, isn’t it?).
I’ve bought this knife almost immediately after release and now, one year later, I really was afraid that this series was ended with only this one knife, but today I got a confirmation, that series will be continued soon. It’s really good news and I hope, series will be interesting and very big, because list of Ukrainian castles
is really impressive.
In 2016 Victorinox company released two new / old models of multi-tools: SwissTool and SwissTool Spirit. Why «new / old»? Because they’re absolutely the same models, as produced before, but with new black-oxide coating (like in previously realized special runs of these multi-tools for Danish / Finnish / etc army forces).
We’ve already reviewed SwissTool Spirit XBS
in the past, now let’s review the older brother – SwissTool BS.

I’ve been looking for this model for… very… very long time.
This is the same model, as described in previous post – Signature Lite, but now with more popular shade of translucent scales, which called SilverTech.
Unfortunately, I still have no information about previous unrecognized Classic SD
. Hope, this time I’ll be more lucky..
So, another Classic SD with unusual print on scales, looks like some kind of special run. If you have any details about it, – please let me know.
The Victorinox Classic SD with very fancy printing scales (might be more logical on Caddy / Golfer models).
I have no idea to which limited run it belongs, so again I’m asking for help from other enthusiasts with recognizing (Nemanja, I suppose you might know 😉
Previous post was about some Limited edition from 2017, so let’s continue this endless story..
Three years ago, as you all know (I’m absolutely sure by the way), Victorinox started new (every-year?) limited run of three Alox models –Classic SD, Cadet and Pioneer. In order to make these knives more attractive, every run produced in new color, 2017 bring us an olive-green models.
This time let’s start review all members of this LE from the youngest member, — Alox Classic SD LE 2017!
I’ve already mentioned several times, that in 2017 Victorinox
discontinued slide-lock series (in 111-mm form-factor). So, it wasn’t a big surprise, when were announced, that as part of Damascus limited run
, will be presented a new edition of very popular Outrider
model (but with liner-lock for sure).
More interesting detail was the fact, that this version of Outrider will not include wood-saw and corkscrew.
Let’s review some pictures?
P.S. I’m not absolutely sure about materials of scales. On official press-release it was specified like:
…Epicurean scales with sequential numbering. These are manufactured using environmentally-friendly wood fiber material, that accentuate the elegant design.
Few days ago I’ve published article about «unknown» edition of Classic SD. Approximately in 10 minutes after I’ve shared post on Facebook, I got an answer about knife’s model. Maybe this time I’ll be lucky too? (by the way, I have few other Classics, which still not identified…)
Update: It’s an Classic SD Argyle from LE2010. Thanks, !
Besides changes in 111-mm series, in 2017 Victorinox has announced several «new» knives. It was a habitual Spartan,… but with black-coated tools. This time it wasn’t a black-oxide coating, but something new chemical process (named as Inox-Spectral ®). Two versions of Spartan were released as part of this series – with white and black scales. Now let’s review a first one..
Victorinox Classic SD, – this one looks like limited edition, but still cannot identify to which run it belongs.
Update: It’s a Classic SD Fern, produced (probably) before 2010. Many thanks to for extra-fast support with identifying!
