Which model from Victorinox knives is a most ‘equipped‘?
If we will exclude from all variety of models few ones, produced not for people but for collectors, in result we’ll get a Super Timer – ‘older brother’ of famous Swiss Champ.
Additionally to all tools from Swiss Champ
, this model has an analogue clock
has) in own scales (and missing tweezers
as result of this substitution).
Rare and nice.
The Victorinox “flagman” model from 91-mm series – SwissChamp.
This variation has wooden scales, but without place-holders for “plus-tools”: stainless pin and pen.
- Champion (Plus)
- SwissChamp’s series
The Victorinox SwissChamp XXLT knife is a one of fews, produced specially for
stupid people collectors. Moreover – it’s a one from three (or four?) models which has extremely rare tool – Butane Lighter.
Short summary: nice, valuable, not suitable for EDC.
- SwissChamp X series
Twenty years ago in honor of 100-years jubilee, company Victorinox
announced a special run of limited series “100th Anniversary (1897-1997)”
. This set included a two models:
I found first model from this list in mint condition, second one very hardly used..
- SwissChamp XL series
The SwissChamp XLT isn’t so popular as EDC knife, but very valuable as collector’s item 🙂
This is an “enhanced” version of SwissChamp model, but little bit wider (11 layers instead of 8 layers in regular model).
- SwissChamp XL series
In 2013 VSAKCS released as year’s knife Explorer model in honor of Carl Elsener Sr.
The Victorinox Scientist is a rare and highly valued collectible item.
Technically it’s the same Compact, but with magnifying glass / inline Phillips screwdriver layer instead of scissors / hook layer in Compact.
This knife has a more modern solid version of corkscrew
, but version
with earlier grooved corkscrew
is present in my collection also.
- Golfer 91 (a)
In 2016 Victorinox company announced a new variation of popular SwissCard.
Instead of pen blade absolutely new tool (glass file) was added. Also, LED light was replaced with the short tweezers and tootpick was added to the place where tweezers were placed before.
SwissChamp is a very popular knife, it has a lot features (maximum from existing regular models) and sometimes used as EDC knife. Victorinox company produced a variety of different variations (I mean color and material of scales) of this knife.
Additionaly, Victorinox released few “tool sets”, which includes SwissChamp and some additional tools. One of them is a subject of current review:
Survival Kit 1.8812 contains from: regular SwissChamp, special dual pouch and a lot of “usefull” things, like flashlight, compass, ruler, etc. The weight of this set is around a 400g.
- SwissChamp X Series (XL, XLT, XAVT, XXLT)
Few posts earlier I’ve mentioned that once (at least!) Victorinox company produced old models of knives with the names of existing, but different models.
The hero of current post – Passenger. Definetely rare knife, but now this knife becomes a Alpineer (by the way, original Alpineer is a 111-mm knife with another set of tools) and it makes it more rare than regular one.
N.B. In “Canada series” only this knife hasn’t tang “Economy” on the back side of main blade, two others – Scouter (Recruit) and Hiker (Spartan) – has this tang.
